what are the extra gas lines for coming from my tank?

One on each side of a Honda CL350 tank. Previous owner just had them capped off. I don't see anywhere for them to go. The petcock is attached to one spot on the tank, naturally, and then there is two more spots for hoses to attach to. If I don't cap them, lots of gas would pour all over the place.
it's a handy way to drain the tank, but what are they supposed to do otherwise?

Sounds like it's a crossover, the previous onwer probably had them capped off to remove the gas tank easier. Without the crossover line, you will be using the gas from right side only, there is a hump that goes over the frame, so the crossover fuel line allows the gas to go from the left side to the right side.
