The metal shop needed a new heater, so rather than spend 1500 bucks on one we built one:
It's basically a woodstove in a box, with a big squirrel cage fan that blows around the hot box into ducting.
Puts out a metric shitload of heat!
As soon as we finished it the "polar vortex" took a shit and now it's 70 degrees and raining.
Assuming metric shitload = metric shit ton then:cxman said:is there a metric shitload to btu conversion formula?
irk miller said:Assuming metric shitload = metric shit ton then:
HHV of manure (bull shit) is 8,500 btu of ash-free sun dried manure. Manure is approximately 60% moisture and 40% solids of which is 15% ash and 85% combustible solids so 8,500 x 0.85 x 0.4 = 2,890 BTU/lb of manure (You can sun dry manure to a much less moisture content and a higher btu rating).
1lb of manure = 0.453592 kg of manure = 1310.88088 BTU/kg x 1000 = 1,310,880.88 BTU/ shit ton
Or you could work it backwards with 12,000 BTU = 1 ton of heating/air conditioning. Then work it back to see how much BS is needed to produce a ton of heat.irk miller said:Assuming metric shitload = metric shit ton then:
