What does one use for heat shielding on ABS chin scoops?

I know- if I would have ordered a fibreglass chin scoop, I wouldn't have to worry about this; but I also didn't want to wait for three weeks for Airtech to build me a chin spoiler/scoop. The Maier chin scoop also had the mounting hardware included.

I am not cheaping out on this step; but I also can't help but wonder whether or not something at Autozone or O'Reilys couldn't do the job rather than having to order the Maier "heat tile" product.

Check JC Whitney and Eastwood. I think they have sound and heat deadening material. Or maybe the local auto uphostry shop has some left over from a job.

Where exactly does the scoop mount? As long as its not touching the motor it shouldnt be a real issue. If its an inc or two away I guessing it should be ok...

It's the typical '70s UJM chin scoop that mounts at the front of the frame, and the exhaust pipes are covered partially by the front of the scoop.

Gotcha... cit to shape and glue this the the inside of the scoop, shiny side out...http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/32000/10002/-1?parentProductId=761406

If I find something that one can source in the local Napa/Autozone/O'Reilleys/whatever discount local auto store, I will post it here.

Now I think I know exactly what I am looking for- thanks a MINT!!!

Autozone had this stuff in their performance looking section!!!! You can get a supposed cold air intake, some oher alloy and stainless steel braided bling, and then the Hi-temp aluminium tape for wires and crap. It loks just like everything else that has been mentioned in this thread. Again- bad on Maier for NOT supplying this stuff (or at least strongly advising their sellers to sell this) WITH things like ABS chin scoops that are in contact with exhaust pipes...

Use the foil tape for duct work. Get it at any hardware store. They line the plastic belly pans, and hoods of snowmobiles with thee stuff, and it works.
