What I Did Today...

Been Around the Block
Well I am a few months into my first year of *college*, I am pretty far away from home (and my bike :'(), I have been in touch with just a few of my friends from back home and for whatever reason they are just turning to complete stupidity in their new found freedom at *college*, drinking, drugs, f***ing anything with a pulse. The big event was i was notified today that i almost lost a good friend saturday to alchohol poisoning but luckily somehow made it to the hospital before he fell asleep, according to the doctors he would not have woken up. Now me, I never have lived that path and have no plans to. All but one of my friends, the other who has been down that road decided to get his $hit together and he joined the army ,reunited with his dad, and have plans to get schooling while in the service. needless to say i am proud of him. So sitting in the great white north of Michigan's UP, i have been thinking that if most of the people i cared about are contempt with sending their lives down the $hitter and being a drain on our country with there immaturity that somehow the mistake with maturity; I should do something even if its not too big, just something that could make this a better place to live. So I signed up for the Patriot Guard Riders today. Now I'm sure there wont be many 18 year old riding. I was just wondering if any of my fellow DTT members ever ride with these heroes? Also another motivation for me was hopefully by the end of this week I will be picking up an 83 Yamaha Venture XVZ1200, something that I can travel to these events. So post your thoughts, comments, experiences; im looking forward to hearing.

Good on ya, mate.

If you're ever down south of the bridge let me know, I'll sit and have a cold one with you.

MN Guard Rider here. Welcome Brother. Although some missions are sad, and will bring a tear to your eye (It has for me) at least you know you are making a difference for the families. Ride safe brother.

Another thing, you don't need a bike to be a PGR. But, it's more fun. I have done two welcome missions, a deployment mission, and two funeral/body escort missions. I signed up a year ago. Sadly, this year due to personal issues, I haven't had a chance to do much. But, that will change as my situation improves.
