What is cost to do your own cafe seat?

Not sure I am understanding your question but if you are asking how I will attach the seat to the pan I used inserts from West Marine and glassed them in. West Marine is btw a great place to get hardware for bikes.

Do you have access to a welder?

If so I made a seat out of sheet steel with zero experience before (making stuff out of metal or welding). Total cost about $20

Damn! You did that for your first time ever working with metal or welding? You're some sort of natural!

Hahahahaha, not sure about that. I do love working with sheet metal though, I find it therapeutic and I've got loads of time to play around with it. Get something wrong and just cut it out and melt more metal in, it's quite a simple and organic process.

A mate also sold me (cheap ;)) a set if hammers and dollies which I love to use too, gently persuading the steel into shape.

I'm pretty sure you could cut, weld, hammer any shape with enough thought and patience.

I'm going to have a go at a whole tank one day.
