Brought home at least one new project today. A 72 cb750K and a 75 cb750f. Why can't I just go out and buy a modern bike? :)

nothing wrong with you. seems very logical in my opinion. they are cheaper, you can fix them easily, win win

Check out the graphics on the F tank that came with it-apparently this bike used to be Clark Kent's.

What I wouldn't be able to understand is why buy an ordnary new bike. If I stumbled into all the money I could dream of, I would buy a barn and fill it with old bikes.

if i bought a modern bike i'd spend loads more money then spend the same amount of time unsuccessfully trying to make it look as good as old bikes

For the same reason we then mess around with them - to be different from the herd.

I like your attitude. I'm the same way.

Thanks guys its good to know I'm not alone. it is about having something different, something that brings back good memories, the challenge of taking what looks like junk and making something cool out of it.

The barn, True. You can have a barn full of old bikes for the price of a few new ones. Can you ride them all?

Ah, yes. So we can all be different just like everyone else here.

one at a time, yes you can ride them all

Its cool to have a spare or two, but when they all break at the same time?

I've got four bikes, and then some!

83 Shadow 750, WORKS!
79 CB750K , Have carbs rebuilt and on, need to tune, jet and mess with...
79 CB750K project, Engine in, need to shim ($120) Need to work on seat, paying for fairing today ($360), etc...
06 Kawi 250 (290) Kick start fell off, need to "glue" back on.

79' Cat el Tigre 500 F/C WORKS! (just a little hard to start)
79' Cat el Tigre 500 F/A Carbs need to go on, needs lots of love, thinking of usig the hood to make a carbon fibre copy.

64' Crestliner Del Rio Wont start, summers over, dont care till next year.

76' D100 Tranny swap from 727 to A833 OD, oil change, new belts.

67' D100 Weld in new floors, safety

02 Impala Brakes, oil change, safety

16' Fiber Glass canoes x4 to fix and sell.

Basement bar in house needs installed, plumbed, buy tap system, install, etc...

Base boards for house, yard work...

Help fix wifes moms store roof

Re arrange garage to park freinds bike for winter.

I should make a copy of this to put on the fridge...

Oil costs $10 per liter, I just bought 10L for my truck and Impala... Brakes for the Impala $400! A bike usually has 3l? now you have three bikes and thats almost $100, tires, spares, etc...

If you think you can maintain a barn full of bikes, please tell me how! I think I'm one straw away from breaking the camels back.

EDIT: AND A WEDDING NEXT YEAR!

Because any schmuck can do that ;)

Rat, with "all the money I could dream of" I could hire a full time assistant to take care of the barn for me... preferably something curvy with red hair, long legs, short skirts, and likes to bend over alot :p

But I'm with ya... what'd be the fun in that? With the same money, I think I'd keep a few select bikes, and buy/sell whatever strikes my fancy at the moment.
