That isn't a real Indian. Indian Motorcycles went belly up in the 50s and it's name and trademark have been misused ever since. That bike is a 2-stroke minibike with an Indian decal on the tank. It's worthless.
k this is what ive gotten off the bike so far,74 me1,
im assumin its the 100.?
is it not really an indian?
i mean other than it goin belly up,did a company get the right to use the name and come up with this ?if so it would be an indian, not an old school like the chiefs n scouts, but an indian none the less?
i dont know balls about indians,is this a good project bike?will it be a bitch to get parts for?i mean more of a bitch than normal.?(dont ask me to define normal...please.)
No Indian collector would add that to his collection. Indian Motorcycles of Springfield, Massachusetts closed its doors in 1953. Any "Indian motorcycles" that were made after that had nothing to do with the Chiefs or Scouts. The name has been stolen and abused ever since. Even the bikes from Gilroy California were nothing but tarted up Harley clones. A sad epilogue to a proud name. That bike is a curiosity but isn't worth anything and certainly doesn't deserve to be called an Indian. But if you really want to restore it no one is stopping you and yes, parts would probably be a bitch to find. On closer inspection it looks to be of Japanese origin or somewhere in the Far East.
That is because when Clymer's lawyer got rights to the name after his death, he sent all manufacuring to two companies. Italjet of Italy and Fujicorp of Japan.
interseting info.
glad i didnt buy the bike, its a buddy of mine who got it from his uncle who had it sittin forever.
finally got it to his house and wanted to know what i could find about it for him.
cheers and thanks guys!!
actualy at first name was baught baught by royal/enfield quality bikes that where made in india, later the name was sold to some tiawan company that baught cheaper engines from ital-jet of tossed them in a cheap fram and called it a Idian, the bike posted here is one of those tiawan bikes.
I think it's a cool lookin little bomb whatever it is. if you can get any bike for under 5oo then i say go ahead and have some fun. But if you're lookin for a get rich quick scheme you may want to look a little farther.
But again, I think it's cool.
