What to do? 1971 Honda SL70 K0

Okay so I have this little SL70 sitting in the barn just waiting for something to happen to it. I am totally torn between restoring it to stock and having it to putz with and teach young ones how to ride on, or I want to do something fun like a mini tracker or something with it. Here is a photo of a stock looking one (I do not have any actual photos)

Cool little bike!

Info and advice on this little bike would be awesome!

I think a full on mini cafe would be sick.
Clip ons, rearsets, bump seat the whole 9 yards.

That would look sick! It could still be a "trainer" bike of sorts too. Just a badass looking trainer bike!

Here is the link to my post about it.

I bought it locally from a guy selling it on a classified ad. I decided that I was just going to build a two up seat.

Well bringing this back from the dead, I finally got the bike. I paid nothing for it, and it needs alot of work!

restore. These bikes are getting harder and harder to find that havent been chopped up or converted to straight dirt bikes. I mostly restore bikes and try and keep them stock as possible. kind of my thing to keep them stock as to when all the others are chopped and mixed up people will know the roots of the bikes.

I'm almost 100% towards restoring. Something about these little bikes in their stock form just do it for me. I tore it down to a bare frame today in about an hour. I lifted the engine out with one hand! These little bikes are so easy to work on its almost beyond comprehension. It's going to be a slow build, as my kz650 takes priority over this right now. I will be slowly blasting and cleaning parts, as that does not cost me anything. But money put into this machine will be on hold for the time being.

I spend a little bit of time tearing it down the other day. Only spend about an hour on it, but got it down to a roller.

I can carry around the engine with one hand. Such a small thing.

I'm delighted to see you are going to restore it. The basic shape is all wrong for making a mini cafe. Besides, if you restore it to factory stock you will turn a lot more heads than if it is hacked up into a mini cafe.

I spent a little time and started to clean and polish a couple things. Cleaned and polished the speedometer, and started on my handlebar mounts.

I'm wondering what polish you all are using? I'm just using mothers aluminum polish and a few grits of sandpaper. It looks good, but could be better.

Yeah it is. Davmo is a damn good craftsman.

What did you end up planning for yours?

Finally have begun to tear into the little bike more. Was difficult to find time to work on it lately. Just graduated and started my "big boy job". Now I'm all settled and can work more on my bikes. I have a large sand blaster at work and the frame, swing arm, and various other pieces will be blasted and repainted. I am going with a restoration. The only deviation from original will be black powder coated rims.

I will take more pictures this week.

I also am working on an 81 kz650 and am making a big order in the coming weeks. MAC 4 into 1 exhaust, clutch cable, front tire, rear brake shoes, turn signals (up in the air on which ones to choose), and various other things that are escaping me right now. I'll be riding the kz to work and back.
