What was your first ride?

This was my second ride, bought for 9 pounds, about $14.

My first ride is my current ride: 1977 Honda CJ360T. I hear too many stories about folks wishing they hadn't sold their first and so I have no plans of doing so.

Started out like this:

Currently looking like this:

I got my hands on a CJ360T about 3 months ago for $40. It's VERY rusty, and has been sitting outside for years. Still kicks over and the compressions sounds good.

First project is to get a title for it.

What.... the...... hell....... is....... wrong....... with...... you....

The doctors are yet to diagnose exactly whats wrong with me LOL.

I loved her dearly, but the joy of riding it wore off long ago. After owning other bikes with superior power and handling, I just found it really boring to ride after awhile.

It hibernated in my garage for four years before I finally worked up the nerve to let her go. It was a sad day, but she was just too beautiful to keep languishing in my moldy garage, it was time to pass it on. I made sure the seller had honest intentions with her before I signed the paper.

I miss the bike, but have no regrets about selling it. Life's too short to spend it riding one motorcycle :) I'm happy enough to know she went to a good home and will be ridden and enjoyed frequently, as the good lord of motorcycling intended.

I don't have a picture of it, but my first bike was a Honda CT90. Not even sure of the year, or how old I was when I owned it. Sure had fun on it though. Would like to find another for old times sake.

Moto Guzzi 50cc

Looked something like this... (net picture)

I grew up in Naples, Italy as an Air Force brat. A sailor that lived in our apartment building was returning to the States, and just gave it to me since I always helped him wrench on it. Thankfully, I had my dad's blessing on it since he was a rider in his younger days.

I was only in third grade at the time. I rode that thing all over Naples being that young! Even got a job delivering black market cigarettes for the Cosa Nostra... but that's a different story.

First one I rode was probably a BSA C11G. At the time it was slow and boring and outdated, and that didn't get any better for that little slug. But I was amazed at how easy it was to ride and how much of a thrill that was.

They look like this:

I love the old scramblers. My friend is building a cafe out of one just like that ^ same color and all.

first ride was a 50cc honda mini trail, 77 I think. First street bike was at 34 and is in my avatar POS CM400, but I love it!

I wasn't able to have a motorcycle until I was older (read - out of the 'rents house!). So, I bought a leftover 90 CB-1. A year later it was stolen. My first vintage bike was a low mileage 75 CB400f. It looked the best and it was like the bikes I drooled over when I was in school in the mid 70's. Boy, I wish I had the money to buy anything new back then! I would be nice to be an original owner of any bike in the 70's! In 75, I was only 10. A 1975 XR75 or CB125 would have been a sweet deal! I would have really taken care of that bike and I would still have it today.

I did get to ride a small Honda when I was about 14. It was a friends bike and I remember it so well. My mom was screaming while I rode it around the house! The thing I remember the most was the small speedometer (no tach). So, it was likely a CB or CL100. It's cool that my son has one now.

The first motorcycle I had ridden on the back of was my dad's Goldwing, maybe a 77 or 78. He changed the seat to the King & Queen dual seat. I guess I was the "Queen", hah! Great memories! I still remember how that flat 4 sounds and when it shifts - smooth!
