I did my best to dry it out and brushed half a gallon of rust converter all over the rough spots.
It's officially in it's new home until further notice.
I'm sure a few of you have heard of the 24hours of Lemons, and can see the awesome potential of this car. If you arent familiar with the 24 hours of lemons, It's essentially an endurance race for $500 cars. So this z600 was built for (around) $500, using a V65 engine and some crazy home made gear-box converter.
OH and the same series also has a cbr1100 powered Geo Metro...

I remember that guy! I don't know where exactly he's located though, I'll have ot dig about.
I'd be interested to see what he's got going for the AWD, but I'd bet he'll be a bit reluctant...haven't dug into the blog yet so there may be info there......
Thanks for the link Chris!
heh...I bet he would! My only other issue though I'm sure it could be worked around, motor placement. If/when I build this thing I want the ability to carry a passenger so the motor will either have to be shoehorned up front or in back.
...or the passenger placed in the back It would not be ideal, but you could place the motor toward the rear and still run the DPCars AWD system. Man, I love BECs. You're getting my blood moving. There is nothing like a bike engine on full song at 13k RPMs in a car that did 0-60 under 4 seconds.
Seriously: as you progress with this project, call me to discuss this. I was one of the first in the North American do build a BEC and register it for the road (hence why I was featured in Car&Driver magazine). I know a lot about them, and I'm obviously very passionate about them!
Were it me, I'd skip the AWD and all the headache (and expense) and just do a mid-engine, chain-driven car--with a turbo. A bike engine with 200WHP is MORE than enough to supplant Viagra.
Haven't settled on AWD but really like the idea.......
certainly would be simpler and lighter but weight isn't really a worry with this...think mailbox with an engine..
I would stick to rwd. Mid engine or do what hre-engineering did on there mk1 rabbit. Make a tube frame to hold the busa engine up front, weld up a coupler that mates to a drive shaft off the hyabusa front cog and use a ford cobra irs (basically a diff. in a box) and be done with it. The irs is nice to b/c you can cut and get custom rear axles made easily and cheap locally for what ever length you need for your wheelbase. This is my next long term project but with a ford festiva
There site is down but heres a video of it.

that golf is sick. i found videos of it a couple years ago. put a mid engine rotory in it with a porsche or vw transaxle. very very compact setup and amazing power output
