Whats an RZ350 worth and would it make a good track bike?

So I'm sitting in my hangar tonight fiddling with the bomber and this guy comes up with a beer. He says "Hey what's up man...I notice you guys are always working on bikes and shit over here.." So we shot the shit and he ends up telling me he has this fast ass yellow bike that scared this shit out of 5 years ago and it's been sitting since. And that he finally realized that he needed to sell it. So of course, I'm like "Let's go have a look."

There is was sitting in almost show room cond with less than 10k miles on it. He was the second owner. Cranked on the second kick and caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame to life! I took it for a spin and half way down the run way I was going WAY TOO FAST! The power band in this bike is insane and it's stock aside from an air filter and yoshi exhaust..

Any how, two questions and I know dick about 2 strokes... What's this bike worth in great condition (he said it was the last year they made them) and in a stripped down modd'ed up fashion would this make a good track bike? Can you even race 2 strokes? I assume there is a class...

If it's yellow/black, it's prolly a kenny roberts race replica edition. In show room stock condition, these bikes sell for top dollar on ebay. Don't butcher this bike!!


I had an '83 RZ350, but I couldn't handle it at the time.

Alright guys, here's the photos... Regardless - bought it. $2k. This thing is nearly flawless!!! The only visible issues are the white marks on the fairing and tarnish on the raw metal which a few hours under a polisher will make like new.

Can anyone confirm if this is indeed a replica racer? I'm all for keeping things in tact but I can say this - the bike rides weird. It just doesn't feel safe. Not that there is anything wrong with it the stance just feels weird. The front needs to be lower and stiffer, the bars need to be at a different angle and seat feels like a couch. It's really going to depend what this thing is worth vs. if it will make a nice track bike.

I can just invision - plastic removed, dual round lamps (s-tripple style), clip ons, different tank/seat/cowl... This bitch could handle like a dream and have MAD power for coming out of the corners..

Oh....what's a boy to do!
 
Its missing a blinker lense and a sticker. Ill give you $1000 for it ;D

Sell it and buy your dog a girl friend with a nice rack.
 
Ha! Had the girlfriend with the nice rack. Got sick of her nagging... That's why I got the dog.
 
Awww I just noticed the Land Rover hatch in that pic. I have been combing the junkyards for one of the land rover rear ladders for months. No one has one :(

would make a very good track bike, i used to race the earlier model. in uk yours would be called the rd350 ypvs. i raced the rd350lc, not standard, tuned by Bob farnham. Lots of tuning potential although not as easy as ht earlier one due to the power vlave and fixed timing if i remember correctly. ahhh.. my mis spent youth not doing what was expected of me... geat fun.
 
hmmm... I think you should paint it matte black and stick a set of Telefix bars on them!!.. ;D
 
if you make a track bike out of that particular model, you are going to wreck its value. "race replica!!"
