You make a good point, Riboflavin. The modern performance zip tie has been development there's no badness without the ties and Ichiban has been a great ambassador for the tie.

Riboflavin - awesome - it's like me but with flavor....

I didn't realize that the Federal Employees Health Benefit Program also contained motorcycle security information. Good deal. I'm definitely going to have to read up on that one. I didn't realize I still had so much to learn.

"I'm used to the gun-fire in the neighborhood" - haha. Maybe you need a green zip-tie vest man - you can never be too careful.

this can't be right

how could they possibly hope to function if they're that colour, it's just fail in a bag

Christmas is complete, I received my Ichiban Moto stickers (6) B A D D A S S stickers for sure. Just in time for the Christmas party and Yule time giving. My only problem is with spell check, every time I type Ichiban it wants to correct it to "Hibachi Moto"
Cheers, 50gary

Just keep in mind the materials used for Ties affect there strength.

Rather than rely on a Wiki entry, you might want to check out the chemicals used from a separate source, so you can be sure you are using the right material zip tie.

For example, while Xhalar seems to be a vapor type substance (similar to "vaporware") there is a ZipTie made with Halar. From here: http://www.nelcoproducts.com/cable-ties/halar-fluoropolymer-cable-ties

Halar fluoropolymer cable ties meet NEC recommendations for bundling qualified cable without conduit in plenum spaces. Halar fluoropolymer cable ties have a low smoke density rating and excellent flammability rating (U.L. 94V-0).

Other industry applications include nuclear plants, chemical environments, telecommunications equipment, aerospace, and high and low temperature environments. Our high quality Halar cable tie products have a distinctive maroon color and are available in 4", 7" and 11" sizes. They have a minimum loop tensile of 18 or 50 lbs.

The Strongest Zip Ties are actually black. Notice the 18 and 50 lb rating on the maroon Halar. If you want the storngest Zip Tie, a special tie in natural (white) or Black, has a 175lb Rating.

The real difference in Zip tie strength is "Whose Brand are you buying?"

Color is not a direct indicator of strength.

Here's some more info from the site I am quoting:

another way of looking at it is - how much are you paying?

a bag of 200 no name yellow ties for $2 as compared to a bag of 50 known brand black ties for $10 should be some indication of 'you get what you pay for'
an exception to this rule - Custom Chrome sell a pack of 10 chrome plated zipties for about $20.......

of course having said all of that - green ones will always be the fastest

There is only 1 way to truly, once and for all, find the strongest zip tie.

A good ol' fashion tug o war!

I smell another of those highly informative Ichiban Moto "public service" videos. Can't wait! :)

We were discussing performance zip ties ;D

your chart of heavy duty zips is kinda cute tho....
You are correct. The charts do not reflect the increased motorcycle performance. Since I do not have a Bad Ass motorcycle, I was more concerned with strength. Your instructions on performance are unequalled, however, for us more mundane owners, I thought some information on strength might be as interesting.
