What's next? You know, after the classics

Let me make this clear.

I don't drink.
I don't build bikes.
I don't ride bikes.
I don't own bikes.
I don't wrench on bikes.

I've never ridden a bike. I won't until my safety course when I turn 18. Mum won't be able to tell me no, then.

There are some really nice bikes coming out of Japan with a sort of Back the Future sort of resto-mod feel. Modern suspension and motors with updated Muscle bike aesthetics. Works for me.

They are way more stylish that Streetfighters or most hacked up Cafe Racer-brat-bobber POS we tend to see where the lack of cash is trumped only by lack of imagination. The former is an issue many of us have to deal with, but there's no excuse for lack of imagination.

"Botched not Bought". :)

Really now. You ever think that I'm just sick of the thousands of hipster pussies, thAt turned this site into a internet version of a Roman bath house.

I'm comforted by the fact that nothing on the internet actually matters because nobody on the Internet is an actual person and everything we do here is actually meaningless. I can't be bothered.

Literally.

Thankfully, most of this bullshit is confined to a few threads...

... mostly the one's that ask pointless questions. ::)

So back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Bottom line is that it isn't too hard to completely change the look of a bike if you have a little imagination and invest the time in researching your particular bike.

What I want to see is someone making an M1 style motoGP seat for an FZR400. That would be bad ass. It would completely change the arse heavy look of that bike. That look would work on a lot of bikes from the nineties.

The AMA superbike look that is popular in Japan still looks awesome to my eyes and so many new bikes available for wheel and supension donors to choose from.

That could also work on an CBxxx four with some thought but that would take a lot more work to pull it off aesthetically.

I know one thing; we simply can't conceive of the technology that will be retro-shitted onto our bikes in four decades.

The year is 2044, and there is a web forum on the third incarnation of the free public internet. The kids are comparing the performance specs and factory equipment of the 1990's super bikes, and posting holograms of their ZX900's and 1991 GSX-R 1100 barn finds. The Suzuki is widely recognised in that generation's "Rebel Without a Cause", with a charming would-be star that never got his chance. Of course it's Vanilla Ice in "Cool as Ice".

They're discussing fitting front ends from 2028 CBXR1000's and hacking a subframe from a 2034 Versys onto this golden classic.
Updating it to direct-port microEFI with dynamic anticipative self-contained ignition coil and module for each cylinder and all linked to A/F ratio sensing spark plugs.
Liquid cooled ABS brakes are of course scavenged from the venerable Honda GLR1200rr, the industry's first +120mph step-through sport super scoot.
And finally, on-the-fly adjustable electromagnetic-cushioned graphine single-sided swinging arm provided by the ZX1800rDrr.

We won't know until we get there.

they will be figuring out how to get 60 year old bikes to run decently on algae .. ( after they cut the back of the frame off of course ;D )

I don't think I wanna be around to see Firestone's on an e-bike. ;)

I'm sure the "discussions" will be good though. :D
