What's the trick?

Tango Sucka

Without proof, your just an opinion!
I have attempted to put a new petcock on a cb 350 tank and ruined the "O" ring. I bought a new ring, how tight does the nut have to be? Is there any type of dope that should go on the threads?

Is there a trick to doing this without having leaks later, or am I screwed?

Thanks!

The new o-ring should do it. I did the same damn thing the other day, haha. New o-ring nailed it. Just tighten it down until it feels good and snug.

If it leaks, tighten in more. Thats it. You can use some pipe dope on the threads if you really want, but you shouldnt have to.

I use a totally different pipe for my dope.

No expert, but id be very cautious when applying dope. If you use too much, it could get into your fuel and foul your carbs.

I think this was my problem, It leaked so I thightend, then the O-Ring was crushed and it REALLY leaked....

Fuel safe teflon tape available at the Hardware store I am guessing?

Thanks guys

Ya, the fuel safe stuff. The key is to only apply it to half of the threads. The ones near the base so that it doesnt flake off into the fuel supply. Not that it would matter if youre running an inline fuel filter like EVERYONE should be.
