Hey guys, just figured I'd introduce myself and my 1978 Honda CB550K.

The bike has sat for a while, not sure how long but when I bought it it wasn't running and in kind of rough shape. The picture doesn't show the amount of rust the seat pan has as well as the exhaust. Otherwise the bike is complete. I'm not sure where what direction I am going to take the bike. So far I'm trying to do the 3000 mile maintenance (the bike only has 13k on it) and going from there. I'll tested the electrical system and everything is ok except for getting spark at the spark plugs. I'll probably look at the points soon while I am cleaning the carbs.

One thing I thought was curious about my bike but didn't notice until I took it off it's center stand, what keeps the center stand from hitting the chain? On my bike it's a piece of steel thats attached to the back of the passenger pegs. I have been trying to find a good pic of whats normally there, maybe it's the original 4 to 2 exhaust?

any info would be appreciated.

Yeah, there would have been a rubber stop on the underside of the original exhaust.
