Hello DTT,
I need to purchase a wheel balancer. I found this one on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTORCYCLE-BIKE-WHEEL-TIRE-BALANCER-TRUING-STAND-SPIN-/150657328960#vi-content, sorry I didnt post any pics, just thought that this will sum it up. But It looks nice and I was wondering if someone could tell me if this thing is cheap. And I dont get how you can tell its balance, like most of them have a pointer, but this one has a circle level. Just confused on how it works. It looks like its nice quality, just dont know if its some kind of HF deal were it barely works the first time. Thanks for any help, its always appreciated!

I got very much the same one from Harbor Freight and similar quality. It works very well and I like it a lot.

Alright sweet, and I actually found a better one with the truing needle for a little bit cheaper because of the shipping price, so I think I am sold on the tusk truing stand. I thought I was going to have more questions but I think thats it. Thanks

Honesty, you may consider just using the stand to true but not to balance. Consider Dynabeads to balance (works fantastic, fast, economical, always true) . http://www.innovativebalancing.com/motorcycle.htm

Troy - how do the beads work with tubes? You put them inside the tubes or what?

Yeah, Just remove the valve stem and pour them in, replace stem. Done. Amazing product

Maybe I'll get me a set. So do you just dump a bunch in or do you balance it in the traditional manner to determine how much weight you need and put that much in? Would like to avoid rim / spoke weights on the SR and the 4 BMW rims I'm about to lace up.

I think you can order the stuff in bulk but I've only purchased in pre-measured amounts ( i think in 1oz increments) and used their applicator bottle. Just specifying tire/wheel size when you order. Use it and you'll be glad you did. I highly recommend it.

Edit:

Ok,
found this:
  • Easily balance your tires yourself.
  • Glass smooth ride, every time, all the time.
  • Dramatically longer tire life.
  • No rebalancing.
  • No spoke or rim weights.
  • Eliminates tire cupping.
  • Not recommended for racing applications.
  • Kit Contains: (1) 1 oz. bag, (1) 2 oz. bag and Applicator w/ spout.

-1 oz. bag for 80 - 120mm width motorcycle tires (BMW's use 2 oz.) and 10" scooter wheels.
-2 oz. bag for 130mm - 240mm width motorcycle tires, BMW's, and 12" and larger scooter wheels.
-3 oz. bag for 250mm - 360mm width motorcycle tires.

It does state not for racing applications. Not sure why but might be worth checking into. There are 17 pages of reviews on that link and I know a bunch of guys here on dtt run Dynabeads

Never used dynabeads, but I have used the HF truing stand. It's awesome, especially for the price.

Ok just watched a video...Definatly getting some dyna beads. And I like the, makes a smoother ride part. Thanks guys

I made this stand for free and it worked fine. Scrap wood from pallets, found some screws and bolts in dad's garage.

Dynabeads to balance.

Very nice, honestly Idk why I dont just make one my self...but now I guess its too late, since I order it last night. I guess you could use your swinger in the vice, but I would rather make one. Nice stand looks like it works perfect, and has its own personallty
