Wheel Bearings

I'm trying to remove my rear wheel bearings. I was able to get the front ones out, as my manual suggested, by pushing the spacing collar to the side and then driving the bearings out with a drift. The rear bearing spacing collar won't move side to side like the front one did and there isn't enough of the bearing exposed to be able to push the bearings out. Does anybody have any experience with this?

I have a 77 CB550 and noticed the same thing with my rear bearings. The spacer will move though. I ended up putting my drift against the lip of the spacer (at the top where the drift enters the hub) and gave it a few cracks with the hammer. The spacer slit over enough to get a grip in the bearing on the other side. I had to do this a couple times on each side until I got one of the bearing to move a little. Then things loosened up a bit.

Hope that hepls.

Well, I got the bearings out. It turned out that my manual was wrong (what a suprise). The distance collar was actually seated into the bearings and wouldn't move because of that, so I had to pound the spacer to get the bearings out. It would have been a lot easier had the manual said this but it mentioned nothing about it. What a pain in the ass.
