When do you wear your 3/4 Helmet?

well people do tend to be more careless when they are near their house. It gives you a false sense of security when you are on your home turf.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I thought I read/heard/saw somewhere that, statistically, most bike accidents happen at 35 mph or less?

Dunno, but I wouldn't be surprised.
At least here in Germany it says the standard accident
is caused by a car turning left and overlooking the bike
coming towards. Mostly that happens in the city, i.e. at
lower speed.

I use my 3/4 for the majority of my riding. I try to wear it into November but I have to wrap a scarf around my face to survive. I have a fancy full face Shoei helmet for runs on the loop (bypass). I do short test runs between here and the next exit ramp. I always wear the full face helmet, gloves, jeans, and road jacket when I'm doing speed runs on the loop. My wife insists. She bought the jacket and fully encouraged dropping the $$ on the Shoei. She wears a 3/4 bubble too but only rides with me when we go downtown. Both our 3/4s have face shields.

i'm a full-face guy. i've been pegged in the neck with a bug before. i have no desire to see how that or a rock would feel on my face.

Im not giving anyone here a hard time for their helmet choices. Were all grown ups. We all can decide for ourselves. That said... How many effin' times do we need to start threads like this? One guy asks about what style helmet everyone wears, than someone takes issue with the replies, than it turns into a pissing contest. This particular thread hasnt yet, but its bound to, Im sure. You want to wear a paperbag full of packing peantuts on your head, go for it. You want to wear no helmet, be my guest. Hell, wear a friggin' hollowed out watermelon duct taped to your cranium. If youre too dumb to realize the differences in risks between different lids, youre probobly going to end up as a blacktop stain no matter what youre wearing. I dont think anyone here is that dumb.
