When you built you seat, or just changed out your brake light for something a little less conspicuous, what brake light did you opt for? I've been looking here and there casually searching for something low profile enough that it won't look tacky but something effective enough that johnny cage driver doesn't use the excuse that my tail light wasn't big enough for him to see.
So what brake light are you using? with or without a cafe seat
Good luck mate. I'm running two trailer marker lights on mine, but they're just temporary until I find the right light. BigBSBusa recomended a sight to me and it had some nice stuff, but nothing that looked right for my bike. http://autolumination.com/truck.htm I hear my local Napa has a new display up with some lights that I'll have to look at. As of now though... still searching. I think Noel used a zx600 taillight that looked pretty nice for his application.
Here's what I'm running right now... well the tag mount's been moved to the right shock mounting point...
oh yeah I looked at that one in the store yesterday and I had planned to do the same setup you have with the light attached to the hump like that. I think we have a winner
I really like these as well. My friend has one on his bobbed out Shadow600. I would have used something like this, but I went with something a lot more vintage.

I got this DOT approved LED of eBay for $10 but then I saw them at a truck stop. Truck stops have lots of led type stuff to choose from and you might find something there.
I made some extensions using oem wiring since the leads weren't long enough:
I chopped up an old plastic Honda fender to make the mount and I still need to put some heat shrink on the wires to clean them up:
