Where Do These Go?

Hey guys, couple of questions for ya.

So the 360 motor rebuild is coming to a close and I have everything back where its supposed to be, except for two miscellaneous pieces that I cant figure out where they belong. One seems to be a thin silver thrust washer of some sort, and the other is what looks like a very chewed up dowel pin with one edge thats been rounded down. The washer I actually found stuck to the magneto after I pulled off the side covers. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, Anyone have a nice way of rigging a chain protector for the alternator wires? As you can see, the PO left me with the inlet threads cracked in half. ::)

Thanks again.

That's what I was thinking, but i double, triple, quadruple checked that I had the thrust washer on the cam before I sealed it up. Looking at the parts fiche, it mostly resembles the #16 searing washer for one of the rocker shafts, but I'm pretty sure both of those are installed. I'll have to double check when I get home. Any idea on the little hollow pin?

If the pin is hollow it might be for a spring to be inserted , is it perhaps the neutral switch spring? or some other spring/cam activated type set sender unit?
or it could be a casing dowell thats been knocked around a fair bit

I agree it must be some kind of locator dowel but the pin is far more narrow than all the other dowel pins on the engine. I don't think it'll pose much of a problem if I cant find its location. Neutral switch has been replaced with a new unit so I know its not that.

My main concern is this thrust washer, and of course, protecting those wires from the chain and all the grease it will surely sling onto them. Anyone know of some heavy duty shrink wrap? Perhaps a length of braided stainless plumbing line will do the trick ;)
