Hi from the not so sunny Cornwall. Currently changing the look of my cb250.

Nice one. That fairing is shaped like an Avon from back in the day but modified to extend the sides/ears. Interesting.

BTW, time to fit a front section /inner rear fender to keep rain and dirt out of the motor.

Yeah, potentially got something up my sleeve for that ;). A clear plexiglass board between the wheel and motor with the honda logo engraved in....or just a standard rear fender hahaha

Nice to see you MCR,

there used to be a couple of general bike meets around where I am - the Waterman pub and another at Wythall [ nr. Birmingham.]

The Waterman fell foul of the "loonies" last year and closed their doors to bikers.

There were quite a few Cafe Racers - maybe a dozen or so each week.

Bassetts Pole went the same way with an overbearing police presence - even helicopters !

Nothing specific CR as far as I am aware and in reality probably not enough to support a regular meet !

Cheers Green199,

Our local regular Wednesday nt pub meets have just finished for the season (April to September), there are however the VMCC and Sunday lunch meets. Startford Upon Avon is a great meeting spot.

What we need is a focal point throughout the year, a meet, a show or track day/s, however a slant on the CR scene is a defo. I must say though, the thought of being labeled as a Chapter  does turn my stomach a tad. Soz to anyone who wants to be in a Chapter, no offence, its great for some e.g The Rolling Hills Harley crew etc, however, "my bikes not off the peg" and I'm not a patch wearer. A classic working model is the VMCC, I'm a member, a multi brand club without the single make restrictions, or any others. Don't get me wrong I'm not advocating forming a club, just clubing together.

The point of the CR in my view is to promote individualism and artistic bike engineering, on all levels....the end result being a bike thats yours, built by you and admired by all, if they can catch you. My bike doesnt have Cafe Racer labels on it coz it doesnt need sub titles.

Heres an idea:
As we CR types tend to spend a great deal of time in autojumbles, and there are 60 plus of them throughout the country, why don't we make them a focal point..all points of the UK are covered by one at least. I am well up for comming up with stand material i.e. trailer, tables, banners and freebies. Realistically small local AJ's should be covered by someone in that area. Imagine being able to arrive at your AJ and stage yourself at a CR stand, coffee, chat, info, feedback on ideas....sounds good to me...anyone else up for it????

Don't misunderstand - "UK Chapter" is a catch all name to differentiate it with the various US and other overseas Chapters. You could pick any word you choose - Group, Band, Club.

In fact the UK Decals and patches don't mention Chapter [ or UK come to that ! ], just a rendition of the Union Flag in the background.

We have never advocated a club system here - in fact most of us would run a mile from a "Club" institution - but we ARE all brought together by a common hobby. The idea of the UK patch / decal is so that we can recognise each other at shows / events - and maybe even promote membership to the DTT forum.

As to getting together at Shows / events that has been suggested - and even offers of trade stands, manning, etc. - but in reality we are a very small group [ check out the posts - or lack of ].

Your offer is well noted - let's see what response we have from others.

Autojumble presence is a good idea as generally costs are low and local attendance should be reasonable. Without at least SOME structure, funding of events and organisation will fall to one or two individuals who put their hand in their own pockets for the good of all.

As to a general meet ........... Starford on Avon Marina is a good focal point. My pals and myself go there at least every other weekend [ when the sun shines ] in the "season". That could be an idea with a previously advertised date for the first meet.

Hello to all you UK ton up boys.
I've been lurking around here for a while and only just noticed the UK chapter and though I'd best introduce myself..

Its not been much fun trying to get the carbs dialed in in this weather.

Got a cb900F a set ot zx9r forks and blackbird swing arm to fit together now.

Nice work and welcome Notlob - or should we say Bolton..."nudge nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean Squire"

We are growing at a slow but steady pace - surprising really as we consider ourselves the home of Cafe Racers [ first time around anyway ].

Post up some info on the ride.

Cheers BC,

Started a very belated build thread here
http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=43860.0;all

and a photo album of most of the build on flickr here

Quite obviously heavily influenced ( read Copy) of the spanish builders CRD CB750s. They use KZ's but I got a FA so had to change the back wheel to a drum set up, usual route of removing all tabs and brackets from frame and adding others where needed. Moved all electrics with the exception of the reg/rect to under the tank and used waterproof connectors throughout. Not something I would do again as it makes fault finding a nightmare. Used gsxr carbs instead of the POD unfriendly standard CB items. Did as much of it as I could using hand tools as I dont have a lathe or milling machine. Had to have the tank painted, seat cover made and frame and wheels powder coated. Otherwise I did all the rest of the paint, powder coating and fabrication myself.

You have sweet FA there mate. LOL I mean you have A sweet FA there.

Lots of nice tidy details and the wiring is a huge improvement on many. I was hoping you were trying to dial in stock carbs with pods, so i could sell you my set of 93 GSXR carbs and then I noticed you have a set already. Stock carbs on a DOHC Honda of that era are basically impossible to jet correctly. People will tell you that their bike is fine with pods but that's only because they don't know what they don't know.

The GSXR carbs are supposedly much easier to jet - though I have no personal experience with them, other than rebuilding a set recently.

Please fit an inner/front rear mudguard to keep the crap off that motor and out of the carbs.

Hi, I'm up in Perthshire but hail from Sheffield. I've got a GS400 in the specials section currently being butchered and re born.

I've also got a 99 tiger which could do with work so once the GS is on the road the Tiger might be next.

Wave if you're passing!

I read every post on Pods and standard carbs over at cb1100f.net and decided early on to fit gsxr carbs. Also got a set of 1st gen gsxr750 VM29ss flatslides to go on the CB900 I'm doing next.

The rear mudguard I cut so that it doesn't fling crap over the filters, it does hit the back end of the cases though. The front does fling it everywhere though. Suppose thats a downside of style over substance.

But it is supposed to be a fair weather bike.
