Coast to Coast
any body have heads up on sites that list used scooters I am looking for something 125 to 150 cc 50's to early 80's vespa cushman, or the like I have been cruising craigslist, bargain news and oodle.
I found a cb360t in great shape for $600 but I can't find a scooter.
I just missed local sale of 64 vespa 125 for $1200 fully restored my theory holds if you are looking for something you will not find it. once you stop that's when It happens.

thanks guys

I can't believe what people want for a little Vespa. For the $$$ you can buy a half way decent or even a really good big bore JAp Bike . And at least you can hit the highway with one of those .

Scooterworks sells restored and used Vespas. My wife has a '68 Sprint 150, we found it in 6 hours away in Kansas on Craigslist. Even riding two up we get 50 plus mpg around town. Try Craigshelper for a wider search net.
Apples and oranges comparing Vespas and full size bikes. They are not everyone's cup of tea. Vespas are more about style than anything, that's why they're the icon that they are.

Hey....I'm not sure where you are located or what price you have in mind, but I found this on Craigslist....

I don't know much about these things so I have not idea if the price is too high or not........too high for me though... :-[

Good luck

wow i've never paid more than $1000 for a scooter.

they used to go for around 600 used in decent shape.

I am in connecticut, as for pricing as of late it is bad ,but new prices are going up. The new honda, yamaha ,vespa are all $200 higher than this years model. supply and demand.
I have been looking for something in the late 70's to 90's range and as of late something 150 to 200cc I would like the convenience of electric start and more power. I have been leaning toward the vespa due to build quality. all metal for the p200 series but has everything else I want. I have seen a few for 2k range. Yes I know just 2 years ago same bike was 600.
I have been trying to look at it in a sensable way, this is the only way I will ever get the wife to ride with me. she would only consider riding a scooter. she feels a motorcycle has to much power. The other practical advantage for the scooter for me is parking In urban area in connecticut parking is major issue. I have people I work with that pay 140 a month to park to go to work. I am dumbfounded by this. I am fortunate that I have friends who let me park 10 minute walk away. I just give them 2 bottles of wine a year to say thanks.
I have a parking pass for the motorcycle but I don't trust it and my bike for all I love it is not a daily driver. So the scooter solves a few things
easy of parking, allowed in bike rack
savings of gas costs
somehting I am going to have for a long time, that's why I just don't buy an inexpensive chinese scooter
lets face it The Cafe crowd is not main stream and scooter crowd is even less so. I have always liked doing my own thing.
If I had to hedge my bets I don't think the scooter market is going to come down any time soon so I could get out without much loss

Sorry for the retype of war & peace I have not really posted in a while

a scooter I did find the other day in searching I am going to call tomorrow
javaspeed.biz
look under scooters and then vintage, descent price has extra rear lockable trunk and has had basic services, and it has been gone through. Just like buying one of Noels cb's you know you are buying used but someone else has done the work to get you there, the only difference is most POS scooters I see are 2k without you knowing what condition they are in.
if you look under scoot.net and scroll down to classified this appears to be one of the more uptodate sites to find a scooter from.

thanks for the replys guys
