Where to get a Side license plate mount with light?

Been Around the Block
Hello,
Any body know a good source for plate mounts with a light and hook ups? Thanks!

I made this last night, really quick and easy $25 for the light which I got off ebay and is super bright ( i couldn't get a good pic with it on), and the sheet metal I had laying around. I'm still trying to figure out if I should leave the plate like it is and put the light over it or turn it a different way.... don't know yet, the 2 bee hive leds I had on there before, that set up only cost me $20 for the lights.

ugh, side mount plates are so played out. and add width to the bike. boo.

That is the problem I'm having. There are not many places to mount it though, and the cops here are assholes when it comes to being able to clearly see the plates.
Where would you mount it?

IMHO, Side mounts look like a misfit from OCC.

The rear plate belongs at the rear just under/behind the seat. There is space unless the seat is too close to the wheel and in that case, raise teh rear end. Post a pic and we can make more detailed suggestions.

I will call you a Jerk Von, but I have to agree that a side mount can offer you the best look and funtionality!

Teaser, I dissagree with you! The rear end cannot always be lifted and it is often that there is no room for a rear mounted plate. A side mount is the only answer to most of the builds that have custom cafe seats. Side mount has been around way longer than OCC and will be around much longer!

As for where to find one...I have no idea, I have never bought one as they are so simple to make!

See, we have different opinions as to what looks right. That's a good place to start. To me, a side mount looks out of balance and tends to suggest that the builder ran out of ideas or didn't think about practicalities until it was too late in the build. In reality, bikes look better without plates, but that's not an available option for most of us.

There are very few cases where the rear cannot be raised and I am yet to see a well designed seat and fender arrangement that precludes mounting a light and plate. On the Phat Trakka project, I have exactly that issue because I removed all of the rear fender and it has a seat that is not designed to take a light, but that's where it has to go.

The usual problem is that the seat is too close to the tire and/or the fender is removed, so the mounting is now too far forward.

If you could post a picture it might be easier for us to come up with some suggestions.
