Hi all,

lurking for a while and started my proj a few months ago.

I found this tank on SOHC4 but the owners don't seem to remember where they got it from (other than some obscure place in the UK). Does any one know?

I've also tried to figure out who made this tank..........with no luck. That wrenchmonkees build you linked to states it's a norton, but i've never been able to confirm that.

They seem to have been popular in the UK in the 60's, as there is usually one up for sale on ebay.co.uk if you search for "alloy tank". I picked one up for my CB750 cafe build and it fits great, except that I'm going to have to relocate the petcock bungs and put in a recess for the carb slides.

If you watch the UK ebay you'll see there are several versions of the same tank with different shaped tunnels. make sure to get one with a wide tunnel like the one below if you plan on rigging it to a cb750.

Thanks! this is great info... i was thinking of getting one made.. but will check out ebay uk first...

It looks like a rickman tank... and the company is still in business...

Looks a lot like airtech's RET1 Royal Enfield Cafe tank too. A lot like it...

Wassell - they made or sold all manner of interesting parts back in the sixties and seventies.

It looks like a Norton Dominator tank to me, but in saying that all the tanks from that era are pretty similar.
could i suggest if your thinking of having a tank custom made or shop bought from the U.K. then you get in touch with these guys http://www.thetankshop.com/ They do some cracking looking stuff.

and dont get too uptight about the tunnel width, anything can be made to fit, thats why the god fella invented Hammers.. lol
