Which forks and swingarm should I use?!

So, when I bought my bike it came with a load of extra parts! Apparently the front forks and the swingarm are from an 81, but I also have the original ones from 1974. I have a guy interested in buying whichever ones I'm not using, but not sure why ones I should use!

Also, it came with an extra set of mag wheels and a set of spoke wheels (it has mag wheels on it). When it comes to the forks, swingarm and a set of the mag wheels, how much should I charge him?

Sorry for the random mash of questions :p

Is there any real difference? Are the forks any better in 81 than they were in 74? Swingarm any stiffer or better designed? You want the best equipment.

As far as wheels, its all about looks really. Youre not going to need any high performance stuff for a 400 really, so pick whats in the best condition and which you like the look of most.

Exactly! I don't know! That's why I asked. I know nothing about the kz400 so I was trying to see if anyone knew the differences between the '74 and '81 hardware.

And I like the mag wheels ok, might put the spoke wheels on at some point. I just have a guy interested in the extra mag wheels and don't know what to charge him.

Unfortunatly I have no idea what differences there are between the years. Honestly, on many of the small displacement bikesof the 70s very few things were changed outside of styling. I'd stick with whatever parts are in the best condition and go from there.

As far as the price to charge on the wheels... That's all up to you. Check ebay for average prices. Tell him to make an offer. They're only worth what you'll take for them.

At Suzuki they have an acronym for the changes, BNG (Bold New Graphics ;D )
KZ400 is a commuter bike so reliability was the main selling point.
I very much doubt there are any real changes as the basic design was sound
As for wheel prices (which seem to be the real question) anywhere from $30~$75 each, depending on how bad you want to get rid of them and the condition
BTW, they are never as 'nice' as you think, you'll find out when you try and clean/polish them

lol I have no idea how nice they are it aren't :) they look good cleaned up is all I know :)

Your lucky if they clean up OK, usually there is some corrosion or staining unless they are fully painted (paint fades as well ;D )

Just remember that paint can hide worse things than a few blemishes. You have to always assume that whoever owned the bike before you treated it as poorly as they could. Assume everything is broken until you KNOW it isn't.
