Who's got the best deal on freight shipping for a 190lb. engine ?

Like I said... a used cooler or a shipping crate, go to the local ABF and ask if they have some used crating or build one from lumber scraps. Lowes always has a "cull" pile you can buy boards for less than half price.

Yes,
The engine already has it's own custom box which it was sealed in for a couple years,I removed the top and sides(1/4" plywood..)and it's still bolted securely to it's own wooden base which is very secure but is bigger than the actual engine cases. The dimens. are:29"H.x26"L.x20"W. is the full height and width, length as it sits now.

If there's a way I can help you out, Let me know.
Here's what my box looked like after a week on a Greyhound Bus, so I totally understand the concern for heavy hauler dudes throwing them around:

thank you Marc,I'd like a small road trip.. ;) and I'll keep it in mind if this man decides he wants the most care taken with it.

I do a lot of custom crating and shipping for certain notable artists. These crates can be as much as 6ft in their largest dimension. I shipped pretty valuable works, so needless to say the shipping can't damage the work. One thing I've figured out doing this for the last 15 years, never contact a national rep. Always go to the local office. They can work with you on price. The national reps do not. For example, that last crate was quoted at $480 nationally by Fed Ex Freight, but $160 by the local rep. Huge difference.

I've also never had that luck with Greyhound. The entire front end of my 1970 Roadrunner was shipped in pieces from Oregon to Georgia and not a single box looked like that. They were packed by someone who gave a fuck, though.
