Will only start and run with choke on

Size seems fine then.
You're running lean, the choke enriches the mixture so if its running with the choke and you've eliminated the other factors like timing and valves etc then toss in some richer jets

if someone has this setup then please help me out and post up your specs, i would like a baseline to go off of, thanks!

Sidenote. I do not have a battery or kickstart ( stripped out). I have a high capacity capacitor. would that throw things off? Ive seen people use the same capacitor and have no problems, but idk. also found out my right cyclinder is not firing as much as the left, the pipes on the left are WAYY hotter. thanks again guys!

That wouldn't have anything to do with the carbs.

What do you mean by "not firing as much"? Weaker spark or its missing?

Either way, clean and adjust your points. Set timing. Clean the spark plugs. Pull the ug caps off and cut about a 1/4" off of the plug wire. Reinstall caps. Or if they're stock wires still, replace them. (Can't remember if they're integrated into the coils on the 175)

vm22 is the size and type
That looks like the so called VM22 26mm Chinese carb that sells on ebay for around a40 bucks each. It's not what most people recognize as a VM22.

Please tell me what the small hole in the bottom of the flange is connected to in the carb and is it closed off with your mounting arrangement. If it's the pilot jet outlet and if it's covered up the bike cannot idle - ever.

If it's a drilling that's blocked off, it's OK, but the needle jet is probably too small. Open that screw for more mixture (richer) and see what happens.

ok, so beside my gaskets leaking a little oil, i got it to idle finally. the throttle cable was pinched and cause one of the slide to stay open all the way. fixed that and now i have power, not a lot but some. and i am able to control the speed of the bike again. so now i need to find a bigger pilot jet? i can get it to idel at 1200 but once you give it throttle it hangs, so that means its lean? and it bogs bad on the high end, so im going to take out the 125's haha. ill put in 110's and see how those do. also my needle clip is midway right now, i might raise my needle up by one and see if thats any better.

i know there is a step by step way to tune for your idle, i lost the link, so if someone could tell me? it includes the mixture screw too. my mix screw adds or subtracts the amount of gas, not air.

those are not covered up, i know not to cover them that is bad. and yes i think those are my carbs, i still wish i could have the originals so i have a starting place for my jet and other factory settings to go off of
