hopefully these will fit my bike. I don't have all the knowledge on switching out parts so that's why I am asking!!

the rims on my 1977 CB550K have gone to crap and I have found a set from a 1981 CB900. Before I buy them I thought I would do some checking around and here is the best place to do so!

so my wheels/rims are:
>front wheel is 100/90/19 with a single 280mm disc brake
>rear wheel is 120/90/18 with a drum brake

the wheels/rims on the CB900 are:
> front wheel is 110/90/19 with dual 280mm disc brakes
> rear wheel is 130/90/16 with a single left side 297mm disc brake

I want to think that they may not fit my bike but I thought I would put the question out there and hopefully someone will be able to help

cheers

Theres a big clue in there regarding the back wheel, you have a drum brake and the one you want to replace it with has a disc, so unless you are a pretty good fabricator and machinist I would say no.

I would imagine yours are spoked wheels and the replacement being from a CB900 are comstars, do you want comstars?

The front being a twin disc should not matter too much. If the axle diamteters are the same it could be made to fit.

Its rare that wheels will be a straight swap even between the same manufacturer without a least having to have spacers made.
With time, money and skill virtually anything can be made to fit.

ok that's what I figured. I don't want to have to do major fabs to get them to work on my bike. I don't mind the comstars look though!! I know I can get new rims from Dime City so I should just replace that way

thanks for the info

This is true....but that 19" wheel could be 2.5 inches wide Vs a 1.65 inch stock frt wheel...the wheel width is what you need to have a measurement for...the hubs may be very different too....just because the overall diameter of the wheel is the same does not mean it will bolt right up....
