Winter project CB550

- Are you able to use the kick starter with the rear sets mounted like that?
- Also it looks like you made a small modification to the swingarm bolt on the left side where the rear set also is mounted? I am asking because on my bike I don’t think that the swing arm bolt is long enough to also have the rear set mounts on.
-And one other thing. What did you use for paint on the exhaust?

On mine I heated and bent the kick start to clear the brake lever. When I kick I raise the peg so I don't hit my heal. I've done that a number of times and it doesn't feel good. The second set of brackets I made are an inch back and clear the kick start arm without modification. I actually sold the second set I had made to a board member.

The bracket has a step in it where the swing arm bolt goes and does not require the bolt to be modified. The next ones I do will be tapped on one side to eliminate the nut.

The exhaust is painted with high temp paint from auto zone. The exhaust paint they sell. I may get it coated this winter.

As I know you've heard many times before, AMAZING job on the build. You've inspired many of us, and made even more of us drool over this bike. I would also like to commend you for always taking time to answer our questions and offer tips, I'll definitely be ordering a hub from you! :D

I had no real interest in older bike I could appreciate them but never actualy thought 'I want one!' Untill I saw your bike on return of the cafe racers. Found this forum and very happy to see the whole build thread brilliant work and true inspiration.

Glad to hear it. I think that's the whole idea. Build and share because everyone comes here to learn.

hey just a quick question. How did you manage to get that wide a tire and rim setup in there?
Did you get a custom swingarm made or did you extended the stock. I have a cb450 and I am looking to get a 150 or a 140 tire in there :)
Cheers on your build I am blown away by the sheer quality..

Stock swing arm. I offset the sprocket 10mm so even with a 160 you'd still need to offset I believe.

Theres a decent amount of information if you actually read the thread.

looks great !!!! I love your work - keep it up ! I am currently working on a CB750 DOHC and would (eventually) love a similar setting (re running gear - forks / wheels etc) is this something you could help with ?

Great stuff - I have already had a look at the site, amazing stuff !!! I guess your CB750 products are all for the SOHC frame (your frame). I am not sure if this uses the same headstock or not - I will have to do some homework :)

Just FYI here is my build if you are interested:

I will be in touch !

Cheers,
Jon.
