Love to hear more about moving the electrics - what sort of battery did you use? I'm thinking of doing the same. Beautiful ride! Nice work on the tank too - just hammered in or did you cut/weld?
Alright, about the electrics and battery...well, for the electrics, what I did was bent and shaped a piece of aluminum so that I could bolt it down where the original battery box would have been. I made it so that it was somewhat tight to the width of the frame, so that you can't see anything from looking underneath. Then I drilled holes so that I could bolt down the starter solenoid, which is on its side, fuse box, regulator. Everything else is just kinda sitting there. They're not going anywhere, heh. It's a reallllllly tight fit, but works.
As for the battery, I used the original battery box, but cut it down where I needed. I used a regular size battery, but it's a sealed type. I needed to mount it upside down. It's really close to the rear tire. I have about 1 1/2" from battery to tire. Though, the new springs are really stiff, and doesn't come that close to rubbing. I also bent some 90 degree steel brackets to the angle needed to fit in the existing holes that were in the frame to mount the battery box to the frame. I used just about every milimeter that I could to get it to fit in the hump. That's why it's on an angle.
The tank...one night I just started pounding on it with a hammer. I was thinking about getting a different style anyways, but thought I'd give this a shot. After I slapped some bondo, I was pleased with the result. So I kept it. But if I were to do it again, I would of spent a lot more time on sanding, and other prepping. After painting, you can really see many many imperfections. Ah well, if you stand like ten feet back, it looks kinda good!
Here's some pics to clarify some things...
