Winter project .... Direction advice

Sweet. I like the direction you are going in. The excel rims are a bit cheaper than the sun rims if you want to save some cash. You can go up to a 140 on the rear with the stock arm if you lace a 18x3.5". I would recommend heading over to KZrider for some more info. there is a whole thread on bracing the frame.

Thanks! - I've been getting a good education from the Zed-heads over at KZrider - they have the Sanctuary bracing plan that you posted fully translated. Good stuff! ;)

john woo raced this true privateer homemade kz1000 to a 4th place finish against the likes of wayne rainey at sears point in the 1982 superbike national
i was lucky enough to know john and have a small part in building this bike
it was 8lbs UNDER the minimum

Ballz of steel, what an amazing machine.

I'll never give up my KZ1000, so much soul and history in those bikes.
 
The more I look at these bikes the more excited I am to get started on this!
