Wire Insulation Types

Okay so I've been ordering the pricey GXL wire when I need wire. I read that the wire you can get at autozone is PVC and does not stand up to heat that well. I don't really know if the XLPE is the best for motorcycle application or not. I also can't seem to find out what type was used on the Japanese bikes. Any thoughts?

The heat rating difference between PVC and GXL is only about 50°F.

We use PVC insulated wires for all of our harnesses. Unless you're running wiring right up against your engine, the PVC will be just fine.

Search the for sale threads for wire for sale, I bought a supper nice 12 strand set here.

I heard Japanese cars use the same wire and in similar colors as the bikes. Someone suggested to hit a junk yrad and get a section of car wire harness for a selection of colors and similar size. An underhood harness would be temperature resistant too.
