Wiring changes for a 78 CB400T

So picked up a stock CB400T and am planning on upgrading components and starting a mild cafe build for this summer. Yesterday I removed the windscreen which meant removing the signals+wires to. With my mind planning ahead, I know that I'd like to change the headlight and signals to different styles and I now realize I need somewhere for all the wires behind the stock headlight to go.

What can I do with them to keep them dry, and yet accessible?

Not too many options. If you don't want the headlights in the bucket, I think your best bet is to move them back under the tank.

I am doing a similar build on a 78 CB400T and am curious about moving the wiring up under the tank that you mentioned Sonreir. Do you know if this is possible with the standard wiring, or would something like this require serious wiring modifications?

Depends on your definition of serious. In most cases, the stock controls will reach (especially if you're swapping to clip ons). You just need to cut the harness, attach new connectors, and you're good to go. Sometimes you'll need to lengthen the headlight wires or something else, but it's not a ton of work if you're used to working on electrical. For a newbie, maybe not the best thing to start out on.
