it might feel good at the moment to get even, but it won't lead to anything good. i say kill him with kindness. show yourself to be the better man. show you child how an adult handles situations. and when it's needed, call the cops. keep a record of the things you need to keep a record of. but when he does something wrong, figure out how you can make his day. maybe he'll learn something in the process.

A cease and desist letter penned by a lawyer has a way of deflating most assholes. Make sure it's addressed with him and the local police, documenting everything that's been happening and what damages will be sought should this issue continue.

Although my approach is, my approach... I agree with Swagger, as well as the other gent. Do the "nice" thing first, and if he continues, get a lawyer to send him the letter. Chances are itll piss him off even more, but I would doubt that he would continue to fuck with you.
And if none of it works, really step it up and take him by surprise. I hate assholes, and usually end up in a physical altercation or pulling some obscene pranks.

Tell him square to his face to smarten the fuck up, as everyone is sick of it, and if he doesn't stop you'll see him in court for all moving expenses, as it is because of him you and your family are uprooting!! I fucking detest shitheads like him, and is why I left the city. Next time he starts up, just tell him "you have the rest of your life to be an asshole, why don't you take the week off, and shut the fuck up!" This will surely have him puff his chest up, and this is where you walk directly at him, and stand up to him. What's he going to do about it? Hit you? He takes a swipe at you, he goes to jail, and the problem is over!!! The reason he is a bully, is because no one has stood up to him, and he just keeps pushing harder, and harder. Why should he get away with bullying and stressing you, and your family? Turning the other cheek is for pussies.

To an extent BR you're right. At the same time, though, there is a lot to be said for standing up. You can't just roll over for folks like that. In fact my code of conduct kind of prevents me from laying down in these cases. Resistance is not always a bad thing.

Why should Ghost town and his family have to put up with this guy? Ths guy beaks off, GT gets stressed, takes it out on his family, now they are planning on moving. His kids are going to be moving away from friends etc.. etc...... Why shouldn't he tell this guy off??? If it were justifiably legal, I would have dropped this fucker before even considering selling my house, and dragged the goof to the curb as the garbage truck came by. Standing up for himself, and family will accomplish two things. Either the guy will be dumbfounded, and pay GT and his family the respect they deserve, or he's going to be an idiot, and take a swing at him. Either way the problem will be solved!

What Ghosttown said is best, you gotta talk with the guy and figure out what the problem and deal with it. Gettin excited, angry or using proactive words wont help ANYTHING. Its not easy but you gotta compare each sides problems and resolve it mutually otherwise your going nowhere.
Or you can pull pin and move where you have a shop to build motorcycles...

I used to have a big fat woman neibour like like this as well. Never a problem with me face to face after she called the cops for me assaulting her (she took a dive, and ya the earth rumbled) , and them laughing at her. Problems were always when I was at work! Called the cops for the kids in a tree, riding there bicycles down the hill with pop cans on their feet etc etc.... We ended up moving on too... for the better. Good luck

I once had similar situation, we had tit for tat cop calling sessions, couple heated conversations... in the end
I simply knocked on the door with six pack and some steaks told him dinner was on me and I wanted to get past the BS
so we could both enjoy being at home. Fired up grill and started lil small talk, which opened lines of communication
it didn't happen over night but we found common ground and got along much better. Granted it took a little time but no one got arrested or shot!

Don't stoop to his level, he'll beat you with experience. Install a video camera (they sell real cheap models that work like motion sensors), don't tell him about it, and wait for him to make a move. Catch it on camera, and send him a legal notice, like a cease and desist. Worked for my friend who found a local neighbor hoodlum kept ringing their doorbell late at night

I think this is the solution 99% of the time. Escalating things is just going to make it worse. I currently live at home with my mom, who let me have the garage to do with as I please. I have an older brother who threw parties here in highschool, and one of our neighbors really hated it and called the cops several times. I play my music fairly loud, and I use power tools/test run my bike with open exhaust. But they never call the cops or even complain. The difference is I try to be respectful while also enjoying my own space. I dont play the music loud past a certain time at night, I only use power tools sparingly past a certain time at night, and I am sure to wave hello and be generally neighborly.
So in short, being a nice guy really goes a long way... sure taking a guy by surprise by "standing up for yourself" might have an effect, but Im not sure it will be a good one. On the other hand taking him by surprise by being an adult and offering to split a 6 pack with him probably will have a positive effect.
