that is awesome, i've been trying to think how to build a seat pan and frame. How much does the seat weigh? it seems like it'd be pretty heavy with the 3/4 wood. also, (if you have rode with it), is there a problem with vibration and the wood.

but yeah, i agree with others, that i did not expect THIS when opening wood seat build. Looks badass

Thank you! The thing is a brick house man, I couldn't be happier about it. I just weighed the seat at just under 14lbs, which I think is pretty damn good. That's with the lights and light brackets attached too! with out them it's maybe around 10lbs. IDK what the stock seat pans weigh, but I think they are more than that with a fiberglass seat attached. The guy I bought my bike had that setup and I remember it being heavier than my wood seat. The 1/4 threaded rod is only about 4 ounces and the finishing ply is lighter than it looks, but is very strong. I added the metal underneath to mount my tail lights and signals, and it added a lot of support to the wood. The previous owner of the bike cut the frame so damn short I had nowhere to mount signals, he didn't use signals.
 
Carbs are off right now getting rebuilt. I have been taking the seat off and on so much working on the rest of the bike, so I have a piece of paper between the velcro and it's not completely seated.

Wow, there are some people on this forum with awesome tastes in music, i love dan auerbach/black keys and everything they've ever done. Cool vid too man
