Woody's CL350 Brat-tacker - Finished. A few snaps

Overall impression of the Firestones in 4.00 x 18? Any rubbing?

How much did you lower the bike?

Off topic: How much did you lower the cafe?

The front is actually a 19"x4.00". I have an 18" front wheel that I think I am going to use and get an 18"x4.00" cause under hard breaking the front just BARELY rubs the header from the scrambler pipe. It wouldn't be an issue if this was a CB... The 18" is 1" smaller in diameter, so .5" radius and I think that will be plenty.

The bike is lowered 1.5" from shortening the damper rods in the front, and 2" in the back via shorty shocks.

The tires seem good... there is a little squirm in the front end... but I think that's from not having a brace since the fender is gone. I think I'm going to fab a brace to stiffen it up soon. For around town bombing they seem fine... I don't ride in the rain.

Nice1 Really like the faded / distressed paint, looks ridden, used but not abused. Not a trailer queen.

Cheers,

Mike

Nice! Big fan of the distressed tank. Can you let me know how you found/build the seat? Trying to make something happen on my CB450 and im nervous about committing...

Thanks for the props.

Basically I took the stock pan and made a template of the hump I wanted out of paper. I then had a fab shop CNC-plasma cut me a blank from that template. I then took my "blank" and bent it close to what it needed to be. We then welded the metal bumpstop on the back, ground down the welds, hammered it some, welded it some more, ground some more...and then had the best upholsterer in the area make my cobbled together pan look awesome with his masterful sculpting of foam and tuck-and-rolled perf'd vinyl.

I know there are a lot of do-it-yourselfers on DTT... but when it's not my strength I don't mind paying for an expert to make it look GREAT.

Here is a pic of my stock pan with the bump welded on before I took it to the upholsterer, and a link to my flickr where there are a few more of the process of welding on the hump and some of the template making. Hope this helps.

Wow, beautiful bike! Just saved it as my background on my computer ;D I've just started building my first cafe out of a 75 CL360 :) thanks for the info on the seat, its gorgeous! I took off my front fender too but a buddy told me that I should put one back on because its the brace for the forks. I'm just confused because I see so many people like yourself without fenders or braces, do u run into any issues? Also do you ever have the cables rubbing the tire when you ride?

I posted these in my build-ish thread in the tracker sub-forum... but I thought I would post them here as well.

Without further ado. Here are some pics of the final product. I really wanted some 70's period looking shots. I love them. If anyone wants more detailed shots I can snap them. But I'm super happy with the way these shots turned out. Curious to hear what you guys think of my choices on the paint etc... I strive for different, I think I got it.

A few more shots on my Flickr -> http://www.flickr.com/photos/ictwoody/
question on the tire size, is that a set of 4.00 x 18" tires, or is that a set of 3.50 x 18" tires?

You have my vote on bike of the year.

For real Woody, long time lurker, first time poster. This bike has inspired my Cl350 build so much. Thanks for being a badass.
