World of Warplanes?

Hoosier Daddy

Earache my eye...
Being a first person gamer forever, when I saw the "World of Tanks.tm " commercial on the telly... I was intrigued. So when I went to the websight, I see they have released "World of Warplanes" Much more my speed. Having an Air Force background and the last name of Fortress how could it not be so. ;)

That said, I started the download and just paused it for the early AM hours when I have unlimited bandwidth. (friggin huge to me). Is there anyone else on board? Gamer magazine seems to give decent reviews.
Don't know the details yet but looks like we can form a squadron and kick some arse. I am going to get my Gamer Son-in-Law on line if he is willing.
Anyone else tried it? how do you like it? Can I join onboard?

I played World of Tanks for a while during the Beta. Lost interest after the main release. The game isn't playable in the long term without shelling cash out for "Premium" mode. Pretty decent if you don't mind paying though.

This one looks interesting. I might have to buy a joystick.

Well... I guess I will download the beta and give it a try...

In looking around the site and watched a few videos... it's interesting that you start with a stripped down version of the planes then have equipment and capability upgrades earned progress (meaning you don't get a RR Merlin and six 50 cals to start with in a Mustang) ....as in the example vid:

downloading..... downloading.......

user: Ichiban_Moto guess I will need to fabricate a bad ass joystick out of a garden rake or something......... ;D

I'm 'DOTHETON' if you're looking to shoot me down, or whatever we're supposed to be doing. Ran through a couple of the training missions. Going to buy a joystick on the way home today - mouse doesn't work well with this. I keep running out of desk.

I'm not a huge fan of WoWP (been in it since closed beta) but I've been playing World of Tanks for a long time now and still love it. If you ever have kraftinator in your sights, that's me.

Just saw this, if you'd like to try a pretty good free airplane combat game check out War Thunder. http://warthunder.com/

Oh, and if you're in the market for a pretty nice joystick on the cheap, microcenter is selling the Thrustmaster 16000m for $20. These are normally $75 sticks. Use hall effect sensors, very accurate and durable.

I got the game. Turns out it's pretty easy to play with a mouse.

I've for an A6M1, Tsh-3, and an FW 57.

If you sign up for War Thunder with this link, you get a little bit extra starting money http://warthunder.com/en/registration?r=userinvite_11475683

Oh FUCK! After all that time downloading during unlimited data usage time in the early morning hours.
Seems I need a new video card
