Would CB750 1978 tank fit a CB400SF (Late 90s)?

Hi there,

Just got my first bike! CB400SF NC31.
I'm thinking of changing the tank to a CB750 type tank, for a more classic, less aggressive look. Unfortunately I do not have much leeway with regards to what bike to work with (ideally I'd start off with a classic, but alas, that is not possible).

This is the CB400SF NC31 Frame:

This is how the CB400SF NC31 looks like:

Would the CB750k tank be an impossible fit? This is the tank im referring to:

I don't access to a CB750k tank, so I am debating whether to just buy the tank and risk having it not fit.

Any ideas on how I might be able to ascertain if what I am trying to achieve is impossible (via measurements, or otherwise?)

Appreciate any advice... Thanks! :)

I know this is an old thread but i basically have the same question. If anyone has a spare tank similar to this and could give me a rough estimate of distance between the 2 front mount ears ( or whatever theyre called, and length of tunnel from front to back, i would greatly appreciate it.

a short trip to the shed has shown the following to be the case -

distance between the inner edge of 'ears' - 6cm

distance between inner walls of tank tunnel at position of 'ears' - 9cm

length of tunnel - approx 50cm

hope this helps
