Ok I really like these tires and I know I have 18R and 19F wheels but no idea if they make a models that has the right width for the life of me I can't figure this out this is my first post and thank you for any help
I'm not even looking up the specs for the tires / your wheels.
Firestone tires are over priced and under performing tires. Seriously, do some searching around. If you plan on actually riding your bike, go with something else. Anything else.
Edit: sorry if that comes off as sounding rude. And welcome to the site, man.
We understand why you like the "look" of those tires, but they have no place on a motorcycle. IMHO. There are many decent tires around that won't cause you al manner of grief on the road that maybe don't look as cool but are better matched to almost any bike that will be ridden
Thank you for the help is there any brand that's worth looking at with the similar style fat tires ? This bike will probably never see the road being that this is my first bike it has no title and I am 15 i am just trying to take it as far as I can with 700$
There are ways to get titles, but here's what I would do: look into dual sport or even straight up knobby tires. As of right now, the best option for you and that bike is to essentially make it off road only.
And for $700? Save that to buy a running, mostly complete, but ugly bike with a title.
Well last night I found out it was a stuck float valve and she runs I thought the guy why lying when he pulled the "it ran last time I started it story" but I think I may just sell it because the title issue
are you gonna ride the bike or fucking look at it ?
when i was a kid all i wanted was the best tires i could afford that worked the best for the riding i was doing, looks did not enter into the issue very much at all
this was a common sense approach that kids these days cannot seem to grasp
but then again RIDING not posing used to be the more important deal
From what I have read the Honda hawk is not exactly the best at preformace either way. But yes I am going for looks it was a 300 dollar bike and I am 15 so I don't need to go fast and I can't drive it for half a year anyways
Just keep in mind the fact that fat tires make for a lower performance capability than good tires on an average bike. None of us wants our bikes to be less effective, just to look cool. We may want to look cool but it's way cooler to ride a bike well than it is to have a static display to impress people who don't get what bikes are all about.
That title is important - if not now, then later on if you intend to ride it legally on the street at some time.
If you have a place to ride off road without a license, I'd suggest an old street scrambler/motoX bike that doesn't matter when it gets dropped a few times and have fun on that for a while. If you don't have a place to ride, get a title first and if that's not feasible, then sell that bike and get one with a title so you can ride legally when you get to whatever age is statutory in your state.
I'm pretty sure my fist bike was slower than that and that it cost more for insurance and registration etc than it cost of the bike. Make sure to factor those into your budget.
What state do you live in bud? Some places make getting a new title as simple as pie. Other places (like PA where I'm from) make it impossible. As has been stated, don't put a dime into the bike unless you can get it legal.
As has also been stated, the Firestone tires aren't worth a damn. I've had them on a bike and they are downright dangerous. For an inexperienced rider such as yourself, they're an invitation to disaster. Remember, neither you or anyone else can see what tires you're running when the bike is moving
Welcome to DTT. Stick around and keep asking questions. You'll learn more than you care to. And the Hawk may seem a little boring to most folks here, but it's a killer first bike. Reliable, cheap and easy to work on. If you can get it titled it'll be a terrific bike for you to learn to ride on and to properly maintain.
I have a neighbor who said he could get me a salvage title so I ended up continuing with the build and here are some pics.I took it apart tonight and labled all the eltrical and plan on painting the frame and other parts tomarrow sorry for responds time guys I was not sure if I was actually going to to do this build. As far as tires I think the k70s look ok.
