Would like some feedback on my gs750 plans :)

Been Around the Block

Hi :)
Did some photoshopping today, and this is what I ended up with.. What do you think? The tank is from a Honda CX500, and the seat I'm going to make from the old tank I think. The technical stuff I'm going to handle, but does it look cool? Theme is: frame, technical stuff, engine etc is going to look new and shiny, tank, seat and maybe exhaust are going to look battered and used. I going to use clear powdercoating as finish on the bare metal, as I've heard that it ages well and aquires patina. But that descision is already done, I'm thinking feedback on the designchoices.

Must add that my bike is a 1981 gs750e (gsx750e in Europe). The bike on the picture is just for illustration:)

I think the look is actually very appealing. I like that banged up/stripped down look. 8)

I will say that I believe you would have to do some pretty extensive frame work and getting that tank to sit straight on the bike like that would probably require some serious adjustment. But that's just my 2 cents...

Have you looked into the GS450S tank? Similar style but might be easier to fit. I have one sitting around if you'd like me to measure it.

Good balance of metal and black but I would shine up the side cases, that aluminium cries for it.

The first pic of the bike in the illustration looks like it has special carbs.(fuel injection?) on it.

I think that's a Photoshop thing. I don't know 'puters but I know bikes and those ain't carbs.

Holding my tongue on this one.

Tail's too short. FUGLY.

Stubbed frames (ends at the shock mounts) are cop out.

Ahh fuck, there it goes anyway.

New renditions please.

Thank you for your comments ☺ For you that commented on the carbs, that was just me who couldn't bother to be precise with photoshop. I'm going for regular carbs. I will look into the 450 tank. I've seen it on some bikes, and it looks good. Regarding the short tail, there's a reason for that. I wanted a compact, robust look and the two things that mattered most in aquiring this look was the length of the tail, and the height of the headlight. I will attach the original picture so you can see what i mean. Also polishing the engine covers would take away the effect of the silver coloured engine bolts and I really like that
