hey guys!

hope this is in the right section. 8)

i´m about to wrap the headers of my RD with heat wrapping cuz they look fugly (2 smoke destroyed the nice chrome).

is there a way to do this wrong?

do you guys soak them in water before wrapping or wrap it just as it is....
heard that there is a certain way to go around the tube to stop it from unfolding....?

how would you guys fix the wrap on the tube?i´ll use some stainless wire...

the picture shows how i want it to look like!
thats my aim :)

thanks in advance!!

I did it a few years back and I soaked the wrap in water, made it easier to get a tight fit. To secure the wrap I used stainless steel zip ties, but you could also use some wire. I like the look of the wrap when you start at the bottom of the pipe and wrap up to the top of the header (where it meets the head).

Here's a pic of the type of ties I used:

Soaking works well, just don't soak too long or the wrap will basically disintegrate. Use SS zip ties like Deacon mentions ^

And don't freak when you start your ring-a-ding and the wrap starts to smoke...it will stop but it takes a while...and it smells super bad!
