Wrapping my Bike....Teaser!

duggyb

where are the skis?
Well guys i have a pretty minty 1977 Cj360T and i didnt really want to ruin the all original paint and such but wanted a color change, so i started wrapping it with 3m scotchprint material, i dont have much done as i just started this morning, but it should all be done by early this week.

i sell this film as well as PPF(paint protection film for the fronts fo cars) for a living, so i have easy access to the film and i am a PPF installer as well, so this stuff is easy for me.

heres a couple teazer pics, i left the old honda striping on because i am going to use it as a reference for laying down my new striping, as i am keeping a simliar theme.

i will be using 5 colors total on the bike

Matte silver
Carbon fiber(textured)
Matte black
Gloss pearlescent black
Brushed stainless steel(textured)

i also will be using 3M M94 adhesive promoter and 3M glass cleaner WITH Ammonia.

I did not do a pre prep sand to remove an abrasions as i want to keep factory underneath so i will have a few marks/imperfections in it.

let me know what you guys think!

haven't really tested it, but i assume not that well to gas, as for oil it wont pose as much of an issue, but i do plan(around the tank top part) to install some actual Paint Protection Film, which holds up much better to fluids, assuming its not left on there for days.

im not worried about the fender/sides/rear tail as they wont see any gas or oil.

got the rear fairing done, this turned out to be a harder piece than i thought because of all the 90s.

also got the gas lid done in the brushed stainless steel turned out VERY nice.

then the rain stopped and it got sunny! so i had to go for a ride, the first of the season for me:)

Why didn't you take the factory decals off? I can see them under the wrap

if you read my first post, i didn't take them off because I want to retain the factory stuff underneath so I can revert back if needed, and i wanted to see them because I am going to be overlaying black stripes in the same pattern over top of the originals, this way i know they are lined up.

I kind of like it that way ,would be lil better if you see them lil more. Gives it that ghost look to it !

I've got a "carbon fiber" wrap on my DS7. I still get a kick outta watching people walk up and tap the tank to see if it's "real" or not :D

That's great man, my original idea was to do mine like that. But I didn't want to mess with all the really hard curves and angles and wanted sone color, i have the carbon fiber dinoc 3m on my tank lid still though. Looks sweet...

very cool idea! stoked to see how the tank comes out! i have always watned to do this but not sure how it would wrap the compound curves of a tank
