Wrapping up the XS transformation

Hey, the 750 is to the West End Boyz what the 360 is to the D'towners! 8) 8) 8)

Hey Dave, my Yamasaki 750 is like a '2nd cousin twice removed' to your XS750! :D :D

A VERY distant relative!

It's a big country out in the west end. We need horses with legs to cover the distances ;)

I'll have to put something kawi on my bike.... maybe a hazard light circuit ;)

I finally found some time to get back into the garage and finish off the Radian swing arm. I welded new shock mounts to get things properly aligned and opened up the axle bores for the larger XS axle. The swing arm is slightly longer than stock so I had to modify the rear brake cable to fit and buy a longer chain.

I'll be machining up a hollow axle in the next couple of weeks to fit the wider swing arm.

This project may never be complete. There always seems to be a mod that I just can't live without :D

Nice - makes me wish I'd have kept my Radian arm.

I do have a secret weapon swingarm for another XS650 project however - off an FZR600, modified to bolt into the XS650 frame. I sold the Radian arm after I modified it and had it powdercoated, but I kept the bigger one.

Thanks for the comments guys.
I have put almost 6000km on this bike since I got her street worthy in June of '08. For the most part those 6k were worry free with the only nagging issue being the destruction of certain custom light-weight components from vibration. This is my only bike and I expect it to look good parked at the café, to take me on some distance rides and to handle a bit of a pounding in the twisties. I've tried to keep all of my mods true to the technology that was available in the early seventies. Some of the shortcomings I am currently addressing are forks, brakes, power and vibration. I have some 39mm forks that look period that I am reviewing along with some dual front discs & calipers. Work has started on a 750cc re-phased motor that should improve power and reduce vibration a little.

I'd like to build another XS with a less radical seating position that I can ride 2-up on. If anyone has an XS650 roller around the GTA that they want to get rid of let me know.

Beautiful bike you've built. It's got all the right parts and the whole thing just works well together. Excellent work sir.
