If you can do bicycle wheels you'll have no problems with motorcycle wheels.
They are just bigger and heavier
I use stock spokes, shouldn't have any problems using spokes for 19" with Yamaha 19" rim
I've done a bicycle, and these were similar. First time for me, but only one misstep.
The CB360 is 18 inch front stock. I stayed with 18. the CL had 19 inch wheels.
the rims were $74 for the Front, $85 for the rear. Free shipping from Mikes over $150.
The spokes were $113 each set shipped from Buchanan's. they are unpolished SS spokes and nipples. Stock Length.
So $385 for the bunch....I bought the parts individually, but looking at the total, I might of said that was too much... ;D
Watch some video's on lacing, I also took a lot of pictures of my old wheel set up for reference. I got a little lost on the first one (rear) a couple of times...took me 6 hours.
the front took 2 hours. I flew through it. Prelace the innersfirst, then do the outers. the inners cannot be put on if the outers are there.
WM2 front and WM3 rear, stock is WM1 and WM2 (1.60" & 1.85")
If your building a cafe, I would fit 18" front and use spokes off e-bay, guy is selling butted spokes like originals for $40.00 (can't remember if it's plus shipping?)
And then go buy yourself some 18" AVON RoadRiders for both ends. Stick to narrow tires - don't get sucked into fatter=better.
I run 18's on my XS650 and a 110 rear, 100 front. Next tires will likely be 100 rear 90 front. FWIW I run the 18" MikesXS rim on the front of my bike and have had it to ~120. I'm still alive. Buchanan stainless spokes/nipples all around.
I have the Buchanan's Unpolished Stainless spokes and nipples too...I love the look...Like freshly plated steel spokes, but they won't corrode. I didn't want polished, as I think that would of been a little too shiny for my tastes.
Yup. Got another 2 sets of Buchanan spokes on the way for my rigid project. Seems to me they're getting pricier though. The hit on my VISA was a little harder than I was expecting.
Not if your buying rims anyway, wider rear rim allows tyre to seat properly and should give better handling, saving $2~$3 bucks isn't worth the difference
the Thai spokes are plated steel. My Buchanan's are stainless. That accounts for some of the difference. The B brand are same gauge and quality as original and are swaged (Thicker at the ends). I've seen posts of the Thai ones that show smaller gauges, no swaging, and the heads are a little smaller.
I called Buchanan's and discussed what I was doing with "Kenny", the phone rep... I later found out it was Kenny Buchanan. He sia Honda rider and has or had a CB350. Really knowledgeable about rims and relacing, and offered some good advice. Thet are a little expensive (Mine were $113 per set shipped) but they are available on the phone for advice and questions.
