I'm wondering where you guys get your pistons for these old twins. I have a 500T and I'd like to use 450 slugs to up the compression. I called wiseco and JE, niether of them list these pistons. Hansen Racing has them but I don't have that kind of budget.

450 and 500 are the same bore size? I thought the 500 was just a slightly overbored version of the 450?

Either way, heres a link to some "NOS" pistons on ebay. There were lots of others but these were the cheapest i saw:

Thank you sir. I'm looking for an oversized kit so that I can clean up the bores. The 500T is a stroked version of the 450, but the 450 also has a higher compression ratio which I wouldn't mind. I was hoping to get a new kit so that I an start machining right away.
I'm also looking for tappets. I was going to spray weld the originals and machine them down but buying new ones would be easier.
I guess I'll have to keep looking.

How big oversize did you want to go? Theres at least 3 kits i found just now on ebay, a .25, a .75 and 3.0. Price ranges from 99 dollars to 169 dollars. Heres a link:

So they do exist. I don't really think of ebay though. Alot of friends and family have had bad experiences. I guess I'll have to think about opening a PayPal account. Call me old fashioned but I like to be able to talk to someone when I'm giving over my hard earned $. Thanks Bob!

No problem. Ebays actually not that bad. Just make sure to hook the paypal account up to your credit card and not a bank account, and if anything goes wrong, you can charge back through the credit card. Credit card companies make charge backs for unreceived or damaged merchandise really easy. If you hook it up to a bank account, good luck getting any money back, and paypal can actual pull money from your account or put a hold on funds if a seller (or buyer, if youre selling something) disputes the transaction.

Oh and always make sure to check the shipping charges. Some sellers make major money inflating the shipping (ive seen 300+ dollar shipping on a gas cap)

If you really want to buy from someone local, check your local performance bike shops (not the places that specialize in gear). If you have the specs, im sure there are piston companies out there (wiseco, vertex, hundreds of chinese vendors) that either already make a piston that will fit with the profile you want, or will make one to your spec. The shop will have the book or know who to call. But youre probably looking at big dollars. Or you may have luck with honda, but checking bikebandit it seems like 450 pistons are no longer in stock so i dont think honda will be able to get them.

Or someone on here might have a set to sell you. Good luck :)

Hey! Have you find yet?

I have a brand new NOS HONDA STD piston kit from Honda, come with 2 pistons, rings already installed and c clip for your wrist pin.

Let me know.
