I have a six fitty and will be following your build. Are you looking to go after the brat style seat? Keep the pics coming..

Notice the ex-graffti on my garage....stupid punk kids damnit.

Gang*, I was looking for some right hand switched like that and could find what I was looking for. You mentioned one of your boys built those for you...? Any way we could get a tutorial or better yet, how much does he want to do it again? I would buy a set if its reasonable.

Peas,

Those switch bases are available thru several online chopper joints, I believe there are links in this thread.
Nifty idea for sure, but be aware (I'm sure you already are) that you'll likely need relays for any real current carrying.
Those switches are not meant to be heavily loaded and won't last long...

I only plan on using one switch, which will be used for a horn, and turn signal.  The bike will be completely rewired by my electrician friend, so I'm not worried.  everything will be minimal, so keeping track of relays etc, will be very simple.

I was also contemplating not using any switches what so ever besides a single turn signal switch on the handlebars. (hi-low on headlamp, starter button / killswitch relocated underneath the seatpan)

on the other hand, i picked up a new tank, pictures when it comes in.  but i'm still in the process of moving, pain in my ass.

taking a slightly different approach that my original thoughts. This is a preview/mockup I took pictures of before full take down. Dropping the engine tomorrow. Summer is almost in full swing, and I just sold a bike giving this project a budget of 1400 bucks so far. I just bought 300 dollars of performance parts for the front and rear suspensions. Planning to shave the frame and clean the engine for storage until time comes to throw it back in. Just picked up a sick exhaust header set. More Pictures soon.

just talked to my dad about these... he said that they used to make thier own on choppers, just cut off a small piece of a 7/8 or 1 in bar (cut them in 1/2 and then shave them down a bit), drill out and mount your switches you need. then drill 2 small holes in the end of the bar piece, and rivit that on to the handle bars... CHEAP and looks/ works awesome... he said that he can not belive i have never heard of that... but it make sense
i bet it would be super easy!

Yeah, I saw the ones at Zero awhile back but I just can't spend $60 on two $3 switches and a $1 worth of aluminum. I just picked up some rocker switches from a fishery supply yesterday with the intentions of making my own. I'll post pics in my cb400f build thread when I make them. Hopefully that'll be this week sometime.

yeah, there where three tanks they photoshopped onto the frame, regardless, I need an ID on the tank. I love the lines on that bike.

The tank in the photo looks like one off a Kaw 500 Triple, to me at least.

Re: xs - six fifty project

-Frame and parts painted and shaved
-RaceTech cartridge emulators installed
-Progressive fork springs installed with polished forks
-Steering stem and swing arm needle bearings installed
-Rear suspension mounted
-Engine repainted and remounted (polished tappet covers)

I lost my camera hence a large gap in progress.

Rear inner tube tore while changing tires, waiting on more parts. Currently working on rebuilding brake calipers / MC and drilling brake rotors.

I have an 18 inch rear wheel waiting to be mounted, but I'm almost done, just need to take apart and paint the parts of the frame I welded. i need to wire in new controls and key switch, clean the tank/petcock and put everything together.

Wheels and brakes mounted. The oil is from my girlfriends car.

Drive chain and new sprockets 17/32 (520).
Essentially just waiting until I have time to wire up some new parts. I also have to clean out the gunked up gas in the tank, and have already rebuilt the petcocks.
