Hi All,
i recently bought a CJ360 with a big box of spare parts. It came with a set of XS400 wheels, and front forks. as well as the original front end of the CJ.
I want to use the XS front end (like the look of the wheel, and disc rather than drum), and it slides right in to the CJ triple trees.
However the shiny chrome bit (are they called stanchions?) are quite badly pitted on the XS forks. They are ok down where the seal will slide up and down, so its mainly cosmetic. And the lower painted bits (Fork tubes?) are in good condition as well. On the CJ forks however, the stanchions are in really good condition. I also prefer the visible but on top of the forks on the CJ rather than a rubbish looking rubber insert on the XS.
Now i know the diameter is the same, but do we think itd be possible to use the CJ stanchions with the XS lowers to get what I want? I guess the important bit is the lip where the circlip holds the 2 together? Is there any way of knowing without pulling them apart?
