XS650 Brake pistons frozen in caliper

Finally got the caliper rebuild kit and new pistons for my 72 XS650, but can't get the old pistons out! I've tried the the compressed air trick with 100psi but it's a no go. Any other tricks reccomended?? Is there a special tool that will allow me to grab onto the damn thing so I can give it a twist?? Or is a trip to the machine shop in my future?

Hey Terry.. you cant re-attach it to the master cylinder and hose, put some new brake fluid , (bleed the line of any air), then pump the MC to pop it out?... Thats worked for me in the past...
You just have to be careful, with all the pressure build up, the caliper once free from the rust spot will just go flying like a bullet.

get a grease pump and proper fitting. pump until it pops out. it will come. soak it with PB blaster to help it out if it is REALLY that stuck.

clean all grease and your gold. grease is nice because the piston wont go flying across your room, but sucks becausse its a bit messier (not as bad as youd think though).

I second locO leoN's post. I had the same situation with mine. Hooked the Master Cylinder back up and after a little pumping and bleeding I was able to push it out.

PUSH.. Push.. breath in... Breath out!!.. Push.. you are doing fine... Push.. Push... Its coming out.. just a little more... push!!!..

heheheh...
