XS650 with a BMW tank?

Hey guys, I've been eyeing up gas tanks to toss on my '77 XS650. I see a lot of people using the XS750 tank a lot, which I like, but what I'd really like is a BMW R90/5 or something similar tank. Just wondering if anyone on here has seen that done before? I'm sure it'd take quite a bit of fabricating to get that on there, just wondering how much I'd be taking on if I was to try it out.

shouldn't take all that much Fab maybe a bracket or 2 ....BMW tanks are nice you thinking of one with the chrome already on the sides?

Ha, yeah, wasn't sure about how deep and tall the canal for the top tube would be on the beemer tank. I like the toaster style tanks with the chrome on the sides, but I was thinking more this style tank http://madwraps.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/tgbmwr904.jpg
think it's the /7 type.
I do like the way the XS750 tanks look, just like the bmw tank more. Also, wanted it to sit a little on the high side, hoping to get the tank about level with the bar mounts.

yea that tank will look awesome much better than a 750 tank In my opinion...getting the tank to fit & sit how you want it is basically trial and error after you put it on and take it off 200 times figuring the mounting is the easy part.....just don't try to put a sportster tank on a CB750 and you'll be fine
