XS750 - Help me identify these frame tabs

I'm in the process of de-tabbing my XS750 frame and I'm stumped as to what these two tabs do?
They are both on the cross beam above the swingarm. I know, I should have paid more attention.... At first I thought they were supports for the battery box, but now I'm not sure...

Anyone know what they are for?

Hey, Halminator!

If you haven't figured it out, already, and assuming your bike is the '78 XS750E I think it is (since the Specials don't seem to have that crossbar), those might be mounting points for the big stock airbox most people replace with one of these, I believe:

Not certain, though, since I can't find a pic of a bike with one still on it.

Good luck!

It's been a long time since I detabbed my frame, but those are certainly gone. Are you planning on keeping the stock airbox or battery box? If not, junk em.

Thanks. They're gone now. Pretty sure they were for the standard air box which I won't be using in my build so I got rid of them.
